Topographer
Overview
The 143rd Separate Mechanized Brigade is a formation of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine based in Chernihiv region. The brigade is part of the "North" Operational Command. The unit was formed around a team with combat experience in various sectors of the front. A Topographic Surveyor in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a military specialist responsible for creating, updating, and using topographic maps, geodetic materials, and data for precise orientation, fire direction, operational planning, and fortification construction. This is a profession of high responsibility, where precision saves lives.
Responsibilities:
- conducting geodetic measurements on the terrain (relief surveying, landmarks, coordinates)
- preparing and updating maps and diagrams for command
- providing units with precise coordinates for artillery, engineers, and reconnaissance
- working with modern equipment and programs (digital topographic systems)
- participating in combat and training missions
Requirements:
- knowledge of the basics of geodesy, topography, and cartography
- ability to work with GPS navigation, theodolites, rangefinders, and topographic instruments
- knowledge of specialized software (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, QGIS — depending on the unit)
- high attention to detail and spatial thinking
Conditions:
- mobilization until the end of martial law or contract service
- possibility of transferring current servicemen with the direct commander's consent
- possibility of service for candidates who, per the Military Medical Commission's findings, are fit for service in support units, TCC and SP, military educational institutions, training centers, etc.
- monetary allowance in accordance with current legislation
- free materiel provision
