What Happens at Every Stage

Filling Out the Online Form

The candidate fills out an online form on the official website of the 1st Recruitment Center, providing their personal details and desired role or training direction.

Waiting for a Response

After submitting the form, a recruitment center representative will contact you to clarify the details and conduct a preliminary interview.

Choosing a Role/Unit

A recruiter will help you decide on a role or unit based on your skills, experience, and preferences. You can also choose a new 14- or 24-month contract — see below for details.

Gathering the Required Documents

  • passport

  • education documents
  • Autobiography (two copies: handwritten and printed)
  • reference (résumé) from your place of work or study
  • recommendation letter from a military unit (if available)
  • copy of Ukrainian citizen passport (ID card)
  • copy of taxpayer identification number certificate
  • copy of birth certificate
  • copies of education documents
  • copy of military registration document
  • copy of marriage (divorce) certificate
  • copies of children's birth certificates
  • employment record certificate (copy of work record book)
  • certificate of registered address
  • blood type and Rh factor certificate
  • certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirming no criminal record (or that it is expunged)
  • Form 100/2 certificate (psychiatric exam and substance use screening)
  • copy of driver's license (if available)
  • copy of international passport (if available)
  • copy of combat veteran certificate (if available)
  • photos: 1 pc. 9×12 cm, 4 pcs. 3×4 cm (in military uniform)

Arrival at the 1st Recruitment Center in Kyiv

Once all details are agreed, you arrive at the recruitment center to continue the selection process at: Kyiv, 10a Olzhycha St.

Building Your Personal File

Center specialists conduct an interview, assessing your motivation, physical and psychological condition, and suitability for the chosen role.

Medical Examination (Military Medical Commission)

Recruiters accompany you through the Military Medical Commission, which confirms your fitness for military service.

Deployment to Your Duty Station

Under contract: after successfully completing all selection stages and paperwork, you go through 51 days of basic general military training, after which you are deployed to your duty station.

Under mobilization: after the Military Medical Commission, you are sent to an assigned military unit, which either sends you for basic general military training or trains you on-site (if it has the relevant training base), after which you begin your duties in the unit.

1 year

For individuals aged 18 to 24 (inclusive) and people aged 60+.

3 years

For service members enlisted for enlisted (rank-and-file) positions.

3–5 years

Depending on mutual agreement — for sergeants and warrant officers.

5 years

For cadets studying at military educational institutions under state funding.

Contracts can be signed for 1 to 10 years, depending on rank and position.

Or Choose a New Contract

Instead of a standard 3+ year contract, you can choose a new short-term contract — for 14 or 24 months, with increased pay for risk and workload.

14 months

Infantry-Assault Contract

  • The highest pay — averaging around UAH 300,000, up to UAH 460,000/month for some positions.
  • Base monetary allowance from UAH 20,000/month.
  • Deferral from 6 months, +3 months for every month of combat.
  • For infantrymen, assault troops, combat medics, and others.

24 months

Combat and Basic Contracts

  • Pay of UAH 30,000–120,000/month depending on position and workload.
  • Base monetary allowance from UAH 20,000/month.
  • Deferral from 6 months, +1 month for every month of combat.
  • For UAV pilots, artillerymen, and support/non-combat positions.
More About This Contract
The same bonuses apply to all new contracts: +UAH 100,000 for capturing an enemy combatant, +UAH 15,000 for a kill in close combat, UAH 27,000–33,000 for a signed contract, and from UAH 20,000 for annual wellness support. Full comparison — on the New Contracts page.
