The 127th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade is more than just a military formation. It is the shield and symbol of resistance of the hero city of Kharkiv. From the first hours of russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the soldiers of this brigade stood up to defend their native city, showing the whole world that willpower, one's own land, and combat brotherhood can stop even a superior enemy.

Formation of the brigade
The 127th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade was formed in January 2022 as part of the territorial defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It included both volunteers from the Kharkiv region and ATO/JFO veterans, former servicemen, medics, engineers, students, IT workers, and ordinary residents of the city.
Despite the fact that most fighters had no combat experience, the motivation to defend their home gave them the strength to quickly learn and adapt to the conditions of full-scale war.

Combat path and the defense of Kharkiv
From the first days of the large-scale aggression, the 127th Brigade became a stronghold of Kharkiv's defense. They operated under constant artillery and rocket terror, conducted reconnaissance, held positions in the suburbs, fought enemy sabotage groups, and took part in street fighting.

Key areas of the brigade's operations:

Northern outskirts of Kharkiv (Saltivka, Piatykhatky, the Sirko area)

Defense of units in Northern Slobozhanshchyna

Counteroffensive toward Tsyrkuny, Ruska Lozova, Kozacha Lopan

Ensuring the stability of the rear and logistics in the city

Their contribution was decisive in stopping attempts to encircle Kharkiv and in later pushing the enemy out of the region in the fall of 2022.

These words reflect the main mission of the 127th Brigade — not just to hold weapons, but to stand as a wall between peaceful life and war, preserving life, dignity, and independence.
