14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great
The 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great is a combat formation of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The brigade has been defending Ukraine since December 2014. During the Russian-Ukrainian war, the unit went through five rotations in the ATO/JFO zone.
Since February 24, 2022, the brigade has deployed in full strength to Zhytomyr and Kyiv oblasts to repel Russia's full-scale invasion. It later confronted the Russian army and successfully counterattacked in Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, and Donetsk oblasts. Today, the Princely soldiers continue to relentlessly destroy the enemy in Kharkiv Oblast in the Kupiansk direction.
Awarded by the President of Ukraine with the honorary distinction "For Courage and Valor."
The brigade was formed in December 2014 at the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Its creation was a response to the need to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the outbreak of fighting in Donbas.
From 2015 to 2021, the brigade's units repeatedly carried out missions in the ATO/JFO zone. Soldiers of the 14th OMBr took part in battles in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, held the defense, underwent combat coordination, and gained experience of modern warfare.
On October 14, 2019, the brigade was given the honorary name in honor of Prince Roman the Great — an outstanding statesman and ruler of the Principality of Galicia-Volhynia.
Since February 24, 2022, after the start of the full-scale invasion, the 14th OMBr deployed in full strength to repel the advance of Russian forces. Afterward, the Princely soldiers carried out combat missions in various sectors of the front, including in the north, east, and south of Ukraine.
On May 6, 2023, the brigade was awarded the honorary distinction of the President of Ukraine "For Courage and Valor" for the heroism, resilience, and combat merits of its personnel.
