94th Separate Anti-Tank Battalion

The 94th Separate Anti-Tank Battalion is a specialized unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose main task is to combat enemy armored vehicles — destroying tanks, IFVs, armored personnel carriers, and enemy engineering vehicles.

The battalion was formed as part of new structural units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during martial law in 2022. It became part of the 107th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, based in Chernivtsi Oblast. Many of the battalion's soldiers are motivated volunteers from civilian life: teachers, businesspeople, IT specialists, medics, and farmers.
94 OPTB quickly became a full-fledged combat unit — with established command, logistics, engineering support, and combat equipment. Soldiers underwent intensive training, including with foreign instructors, mastering the latest weapon systems, including Javelin, NLAW, and Stugna-P anti-tank guided missile systems.

Unit structure:
Headquarters.
3–4 anti-tank companies (with ATGMs and guns).
Reconnaissance section.
Fire support (mortars, SPG-9, AGS-17).
Technical company (maintenance of ATGMs and vehicles).
Medical service.
Logistics.

ATGMs (anti-tank guided missile systems):
"Stugna-P"
"Korsar"
Javelin (FGM-148, USA)
NLAW (UK/Sweden)
Hand-held anti-tank weapons:
RPG-7, RPG-22, RPG-29
Anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades
Anti-tank guns:
MT-12 "Rapira"
SPG-9 "Spis" (mounted on trucks)
UAVs for detecting equipment:
Bayraktar, PD-2, commercial drones

Being a "tank hunter" is not just a profession, but a status.

The battalion cultivates the motto:

"We don't chase glory. We wait for tanks."

There is a symbolic "ambush book" — a list of successful combat episodes with a description of conditions, target type, and crew names.

These stories are passed on to newcomers as examples of combat skill.

Crews constantly train on deployment speed, firing accuracy, and camouflage effectiveness.

Winners are honored at internal ceremonies.

Unofficial nicknames for crews or gun teams:

For example: "Shadow," "Chainsaw," "Nomads," "Hell's Horns."

These names are painted on vehicles or shell casings after successful shots.

The date of the unit's first destroyed tank or the anniversary of the battalion's founding is unofficially celebrated.

On this day, briefings, competitions, award ceremonies, and screenings of combat footage are held.
