423rd Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion "Scythian Griffins"

The 423rd Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion is a specialized unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that handles the operation, maintenance, and combat employment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The battalion was formed in response to the needs of modern warfare, particularly after 2014, with the active development of drones in combat operations.

It took an active part in the war in eastern Ukraine and in repelling Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

Since its creation, the unit has continuously modernized its equipment and improved the skills of its personnel.

Various types of UAVs — from small tactical drones (such as the DJI Mavic) to medium-range and specialized strike systems.
Specialized equipment for control, data transmission, and information processing.

The unit actively uses creative call signs, as well as personalized emblems on drones (stickers, inscriptions, memes).

This is part of its combat humor and psychological confrontation with the enemy.

Some crews even name their drones after fallen comrades.
