420th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems
The 420th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems "ASTUR" is a modern technological unit of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specializing in the use of unmanned systems, reconnaissance, surveillance, target detection and tracking, adjustment of fire damage and performance of other combat missions using modern technologies.
The regiment is part of the 16th Army Corps and continues to develop the capabilities of unmanned systems in accordance with the needs of modern warfare.
Since July 18, 2026, the 420th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems "ASTUR" has been headed by DANYLCHENKO Mykola Mykolaiovych, an experienced officer with many years of combat experience.
The history of the 420th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems dates back to the first months of the full-scale invasion.
The unit was formed as part of the 9th Special Operations Detachment "Chernihiv" of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was based on volunteers who from the first days of the full-scale war performed combat missions in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions
2023 year
In March 2023, the unit was reformatted into a Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) as part of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During this period, servicemen performed combat missions in complex areas, in particular in the areas of Avdiivka, Kupyansk and Serebryansk forestry. 2024
On April 23, 2024, HTA became the basis of the newly created 420th Separate Battalion of Unmanned Systems.
It was this stage that marked the beginning of the separate history of the 420th unit as a formation focused on the development and application of unmanned systems.
Subsequently, the battalion performed combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Kharkiv directions.
It was also during this period that the unit became part of the 16th Army Corps.
2026 — a new stage
On July 18, 2026, the unit was headed by Mykola Danylchenko.
Under his leadership, a large-scale structural strengthening took place, and the 420th Separate Battalion of Unmanned Systems was reformatted into the 420th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems "Astur".
The transition from battalion to regiment was a continuation of the development of the unit, which gained combat and technological experience during the war and expanded its capabilities.
At the same time, the continuity of generations and experience of ZTVR and the 420th OBBpS "HORT", which became the foundation of the modern ASTUR, is preserved.

People are the foundation of the team
Teamwork and mutual support play an important role in ASTUR.
The regiment forms an environment where a serviceman can count on his fellow soldiers, and commanders pay attention to professional development, mutual trust and support of personnel.
Technology and continuous development
One of the key features of the regiment is its focus on modern technologies.
Servicemen do not just use ready-made solutions, but constantly adapt to changes on the battlefield, improve skills and look for new technological opportunities.
It is important for ASTUR to see further, act more accurately and constantly evolve.
Professionalism instead of formality
The regiment appreciates not only military experience, but also the professional competencies of a person.
Technical knowledge, IT, engineering, electronics, mechanics, data handling, management, communications — civilian experience can become the basis for a military specialty.
Mutual respect and second chance
A separate area of the regiment's culture is working with servicemen who have complex previous experience of service.
