1st Separate Heavy Mechanized "Siverska" Brigade
The 1st Separate Heavy Mechanized "Siverska" Brigade is one of the oldest and most respected units of the tank troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Founded in 1997 on the basis of the 292nd Guards Tank Regiment, it is stationed in the settlement of Honcharivske, Chernihiv Oblast. The brigade has actively participated in combat operations since 2014, including the defense of Chernihiv during the full-scale Russian invasion of 2022.
Official formation: 1997, on the basis of the 292nd Guards Tank Regiment (part of the 72nd Mechanized Division, later the 1st Army Corps Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).
Deployment location: village of Honcharivske, Chernihiv Oblast (Chernihiv training ground).
From the first days of the war in eastern Ukraine, the brigade was engaged in combat operations.

The culture and traditions of the 1st Separate Heavy Mechanized "Siverska" Brigade (1 OVMBr) are an informal but deeply rooted system of symbols, customs, and fighting spirit, shaped over years of service, especially under wartime conditions. It reflects both historical heritage and the modern identity of the Ukrainian military.
Tank crews maintain respect for veterans, especially those who took part in the war in Donbas since 2014.
The handing over of the battalion flag is a solemn ceremony for newly arrived servicemen.
