53rd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion
The 53rd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 14th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been carrying out missions to defend Ukraine and its sovereignty since 2022.
February 2022 in Lviv did not begin with coffee, but with long, silent lines outside the territorial recruitment and social support centers. In those first days of the war, thousands stepped forward: ATO/JFO veterans, entrepreneurs, teachers, doctors, IT specialists, construction workers…
It was from these people, who had iron in their character and the will to fight, that the 53rd Separate Rifle Battalion was created in June 2022. The first weeks passed at maximum acceleration. Tactical medicine, engineering, live firing…
The battalion's baptism of fire took place in Bakhmut. Here they learned to hold the defense against superior enemy forces, to lose their first comrades, and to stay in position despite the pain.
Over the course of its existence, the unit has gone through a difficult combat path. In particular, it took part in the battles for Bakhmut and Staromaiorske; it has been destroying enemy forces in the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Novopavlivka, Kharkiv, and Sumy directions.
Since 2025, the 53rd Separate Rifle Battalion has become a reconnaissance battalion.
Today, in 2026, the battalion continues its combat path. It is no longer that unit of novice volunteers, but a powerful, experienced combat organism with its own history, traditions, and iron will.

The soldiers sacredly preserve the traditions of the Ukrainian people and find ways to celebrate Christmas and Easter, as well as professional holidays and important dates of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The battalion honors the memory of fallen comrades by holding memorial events. It also takes part in events dedicated to the missing and prisoners of war.
